I HIGHLY recommend Leo’s bike tours!!! I had a blast and part of that was due to the amazing scenery and beautiful views – but it was also due to Leo’s personality. He shared his passion and knowledge of the area throughout the tour and is a very outgoing guy. I am an experienced rider and opted for the ‘expert’ level. Leo called the tour we took the “B.L.T.” – Biking Local Torture! It was around 25 miles of a mix of gravel and dirt roads, trails, and a couple streams. We covered Finca Anita, Palm Plantation, Naranjito, Villanueva, Loudres, and Playa El Cocal (not sure if I spelled all of those sites/towns correct). If you are a serious cyclist – feel free to bring your SPD bike shoes and let Leo know, he can set-up the bikes with clipless pedals (I didn’t bring mine unfortunately). We ended at the local farmer’s market and there is nothing like drinking out of a fresh coconut after a long ride - we also stopped a local outdoor bar and… there is nothing like drinking a cold beer after a long ride as well ;-). Of course, he offers all levels of rides – so don’t worry if you aren’t looking for that type of distance! Or you could always opt for a day at the spa like my wife did! :-)

1. B.L.T = BIKING LOCAL TORTURE (QUEBRADA ARROYO)

Muchos piensan que no hay mejor ruta para practicar Mountain Bike que Quebrada Arroyo en Manuel Antonio, Quepos. Con sus subidas escarpadas, paisajes tropicales y la satisfacción de realizar unas de las rutas más duras de pacifico central de costa rica.

El esfuerzo de pedalear hacia arriba para observar mejor los escenarios se compensan con la adrenalina y la energía que regalan las bajadas, el sol, el aire en la cara y la opción más que apasionante de meternos en los recovecos más impensados que ofrece el trópico húmedo.

Todas estas posibilidades de disfrute del deporte y la aventura se suman al placer de conocer puestos alejados, disfrutar de un chapuzón en una catarata (siempre cuidando el nivel de rio lo permita) en un alto en el camino, percibir cómo el aroma de la naturaleza se mete en nuestro cuerpo y, al final, sentir que el cansancio en el cuerpo valió la pena.

Este Mountain Bike Tour, apunta a ciclistas avanzados y se ofrece la opción de recorrer 65kilómetros en 5 horas. El recorrido se puede realizar sin guía, también se ofrece y recomienda la opción de ir acompañados.

La ruta está adaptada a la medida de los ciclistas y duran entre cuatro y cinco horas. Las personas son provistas de un mapa y un libro de ruta sumamente específico, con señalizaciones casi cada 100 metros así como los tracks de GPS para quienes lo deseen aunque no son tan indispensables como el mapa.

Procuramos controlar que el recorrido se vaya desarrollando bien ya que si eso no sucede (porque se rompió algo o se perdieron) enseguida sale alguien a buscarlos..

PURA VIDA RIDE

El placer de disfrutar la montaña y su paisaje montado en una bicicleta es comparable con poco y nada. Esta sensación se suma a la adrenalina de bajar una cuesta por caminos angostos y rodeados de vegetación propia del trópico así como a la emoción de “caer” en un arroyo y sortear el agua cristalina o a la satisfacción de dejar atrás una subida sin haberse quedado para tener que subir a pie.
